Physical and Spiritual Condition
Stop, for just a moment. Take a long, hard look in the mirror.
What you will see is your current physical condition. Maybe you have a few extra pounds to lose. Maybe you need to lose a significant amount of weight. Or, maybe you are someone who needs to gain weight, or add muscle, or strengthen your body. Maybe you just need to take better care of yourself altogether.
How did your body come to be in its current condition? I’m not talking about genetic traits, physical beauty, or those things that are outside of your control. I am talking about the rest of what you see. The physical body standing before you is the result of your lifestyle. Have you taken good care of your body? Are you exercising regularly? Eating healthy foods? Practicing self control and portion control? You are responsible for the person you see in the mirror. Take a snapshot of your physical condition as it is today.
I can encourage you to make a change. You can tell me that you want to make a change. But it’s not what you say. It is what you do that matters. Stay where you are, or choose to move forward.
Now, let’s talk about your spiritual condition. I personally believe this is where you need to get healthy first (the physical condition will follow). Jesus gave you a choice. He gave me a choice too. It’s called free will. We can choose Him or choose to walk away. He will not make the choice for you. God created all of us in His image. Jesus provided the ultimate sacrifice and died on a cross for our sins. Look at your current condition with God. Now is the time. We can change our condition from death to life by simply accepting His gift of eternal life.
You will face Him one day. So will I. You will have to share the choice that you made. When that time comes, you cannot change your mind. Now is when you have to make the choice and step out in faith.
“The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup. You hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places. I have a beautiful inheritance.”
I don’t know about you, but God is my chosen portion and my current condition in life. I treated my body poorly for almost half of my life. But God continues to heal me from the inside out. Regardless of my circumstances, or what others think, I choose Him. Now, I know that I will make poor choices; my physical condition is far from perfect, but I will continue to strive every day to look more like Him, and to take better care of the body He has given me. But what do I live for? I live for that beautiful, everlasting inheritance that no one can ever take away from me. How about you? What’s your current spiritual and physical condition? Be honest with yourself, and with God, and make the changes that will transform your health and your life.
